The symptoms of a compulsive gambler
All to often, the symptoms of compulsive gambling are such that they are very hard to distiguish. This is what differs this disease from other forms of addiction. The compulsive gambler has no marks on his hand like the heroine addict, he does not smell of alcohol, he does not have dilated pupils like the marihuana addict. He or she is seemingly a normal person with a fun hobby. The marks are difficult to find, howver, they are there.
Firstly, the occasional gambling we all enjoy becomes habitual. the compulsive gambler gambles sometimes every day, or at least a few time a week. He will go to great lengths to keep his gambling habit, even at the price of foregoing other pastomes. He will become estranged from his family as a result of this. He will lose track of time while he gambles and will forget all things except for the gambling and everything that goes with it.
Secondly, the compulsive gambler will not stop after a few online casino games or a few losses. He will not stop playing even after he has won a large amount of money. The compulsive gambler will continue to gamble until he loses all his money or when the game is terminated. He will then move on to another game and so forth.
Thirdly, he will accumulate large debts and will go so far as to sell his belongings to pay for his gambling habit. When he has no more to sell he will pay for it with credit or whatever means. When that is not possible anymore, he may steal or deal in unlawful acts such as burglary in order to pay for his addiction.
As we have seen, conpulsive gambling is in fact no different from any other addiction such as drug abuse. These are symptoms that are difficult to ascertain, but if you care for you loved one, find out if he or she does indeed have a gambling addiction. His entire life may depend on it!
